Naval operations during World War II with an insider's perspective. Morison, a
Harvard professor, was given a special rank and writing post by FDR. He had
active duty aboard eleven different ships, allowing him to witness many crucial
battles in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This supplemental volume to
Professor Morison's series includes the story of postwar operations of the Navy
in the Pacific, a list of all named ships in the U.S. Navy during World War II,
a list of important errata discovered in Volumes I-XIV and a general index to
Volume I-XIV. Filled with many maps and file photographs.
